JavaScript Markdown

Markdown by John Gruber is a system that converts text formatted in various standard ways into HTML. It's used by a number of weblog systems, and I use it to post to some of my weblogs. (Not this one, WIN has a nice WYSIWYG interface.) The original Markdown was written in Perl and there's a PHP port by Michel Fortin.

Now Sam Angove has translated Markdown and come up with a JavaScript port. Here's the live demo using a textbox, and here's the source code. It's not complete and is "extremely unlikely to work right" in non-Mozilla browsers, but I'm sure those problems will be resolved and it will turn into a cool live preview for one blog platform or another before too long.
